Nice Truck Or Car - Bad Dash - Why? - Most cracked and ripped dash pads stay that way for a couple of reasons. The first problem is finding an original in the Parts Yard that's the same color as yours and at the same time hasn't suffered the same deterioration over the years.  Secondly, removing and replacing a dash cover isn't easy and you would have to remove 2 covers to replace 1.  You know, if you have ever attempted this repair, there's usually a bunch of broken clips and wire connections, steering columns to lower and  AIR Bags to disconnect etc.
